A few weeks back I heard about the DVD release of the film [Rec2]. Since review was quite entertaining, I decided to watch the first movie. I was kind of clueless about the zombie-outbreak in the movie, since the review only mentioned that hell broke loose in an apartment building.

At the beginning of the movie we meet the TV reporter Ángela and her cameraman Pablo, who are making a documentary of a fire brigades nightshift. They follow a team of firemen in their nightshift. They get a call from the before mentioned apartment building, upon arrival, they are informed by a crowd of neighbours that they heard horrifying screams from the apartment of an elderly lady…

I had my doubts after seeing how chaotic the filming was, but that in fact is one of the strengths of the movie. At certain points the filming resembles a FPS as you see the camera man attacking a zombie. The plot has been worked out nicely, and the acting of the Spanish actors is very good.

As I mentioned, part two has already been released, and with a proper plot twist! I really recommend watching that one too, especially if you liked the first one. Plans for the 3^rd and 4^th movie have already been made and will (probably) release in 2011 and 2012.
